Compass Enterprise Solutions, Inc. is a fast growing and successful consulting firm with locations in Geneva, IL and Port Huron, MI. Compass has an immediate opening for an Experienced Programmer. We are seeking an energetic, talented, dedicated person with excellent people skills and work ethic. Candidates will be required to work out of the Geneva, IL office. Experience in Accounting ERP and CRM applications is not required but would be considered a plus.


Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 2 years experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, configuring and documenting quality software applications written in Visual Basic 6, VBA and VBA Macros, .NET (VB or C#), JAVA, ASP and Google Toolkit that integrate with Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Ability to understand complex schemas and relational databases as well as object oriented programming.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and source code.
  • Capable of translating business requirements into technical specifications and using those specifications to develop the application. Must be able to provide to management project budgets and duration times.
  • Ability to complete small programming projects that span only 20 to 200 hours with quick turnaround on-time and on-budget.
  • Strong experience utilizing the software life cycle methodologies during the application development process (i.e., requirements through testing and maintenance).
  • Excellent technical documentation skills which include documenting code, code changes, and user training manuals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain applications that function in multiple operational environments. (i.e., function on different operating systems, compatible with different application versions, and web-based application versus client server application) This will require you to implement and maintain version code techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with co-workers and clients that require attention to detail and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment. Will need to be able to evaluate and reprioritize project requests while managing your workload to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Capable of communicating clearly and effectively to management regarding project status, alternative program ideas, and possible solutions to problems or issues encountered.
  • Highly organized and motivated individual with the ability to contribute in a close-knit team environment inherent in small organizations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and comfortable seeking assistance when needed, while utilizing excellent time management skills.
